Connect a phone number

Bring a Twilio number or any SIP trunk so your agent can answer and place calls.

How do I connect a Twilio number?

  1. In the dashboard, open Phone Numbers and click Connect Number.
  2. Choose Twilio and paste your Twilio Account SID and Auth Token, plus the phone number in E.164 format (for example +15551234567).
  3. WorkflowHQ automatically creates and wires the SIP trunk on your Twilio account for both directions: inbound calls route to your agent, and outbound calling credentials are generated and attached for you. There are no manual steps in the Twilio console.
  4. Assign the agent that should answer this number.

Can I bring my own SIP trunk instead of Twilio?

Yes. Choose the SIP option when connecting a number and provide your trunk's termination URI plus SIP credentials if your provider requires authentication for outbound calls. Point your provider's inbound routing (origination) at the WorkflowHQ SIP address shown in the connect dialog.

Does the same number handle inbound and outbound?

Yes. Inbound calls to the number are answered by its assigned agent. Outbound calls - single trigger calls and batch campaigns - are placed from the same number, so customers see a consistent caller ID.
