Opt-outs and do not contact
How STOP, unsubscribe and per-channel do-not-contact work, and what they block.
How does someone opt out?
Opt-out is recorded per channel. Someone who stops your texts can still receive email if they never opted out of email.
- Replying STOP to an SMS or WhatsApp message.
- Clicking the unsubscribe link in an automated email.
- You marking them do-not-contact by hand on the contact page or in bulk.
What does it actually block?
Every automated send checks it: automations, campaigns, and outbound calls placed by an agent. Manual one-to-one replies you type yourself are also blocked on that channel, because a do-not-contact request applies to your business, not only to your robots.
Replying START re-subscribes that channel.
What about bounces and failures?
A hard bounce or a carrier rejection sets do-not-contact automatically for that channel, so a dead address is not retried forever.
Still stuck? Email hello@workflowhq.co - a real person replies, usually within a few hours.
